What is Remote Online Notarization?
With a rapidly changing world, we find much of our lives online. New laws, technologies, and health guidelines are reshaping our lifestyles in this Digital Age.

The Notarial Act and the Future of Trust is no different.
For centuries, the only way a notary could do their job was in person. Today, you can notarize a document from anywhere, using your own computer or mobile device.
When Did This All Start?
On January 20, 2023, the State of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General amended the Hawai'i Administrative Rules Chapter 5-11, which governs practices for notaries public. This amendment included the addition of Subchapter 7, defining for the first time the governance of Remote Online Notarization in the State of Hawai'i.

Signers can now utilize the services of commissioned Remote Online Notaries in Hawai'i for notarization of documents relating to matters subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.
Is Remote Online Notarization Secure?
Fraud prevention is always the first priority, and is achieved virtually through the same stringent guidelines that notaries use in conventional signings. Documents are kept confidential and secured via fully compliant encryption technology during remote online signing.

Notaries connect virtually with signers via secured video chat, which is recorded and retained for both legal and quality assurance purposes. This ensures procedural consistency and protection for both signers and notaries.

Today, remotely located signers can have documents safely and securely notarized online.
